HEPA filters certified to class H14 separate more than 99.995% of all fine suspended matter and have a permeability of only 0.005%. This means that an H14 filter has 10 times the separation efficiency of an H13 filter (99.97%). Filters of this class are useful, for example, for producing clean air in operating rooms, laboratories, cabinets, etc. H14 filters can be used to filter viruses: While viruses are 0.005 µm to 0.1 µm in size, they always travel associated with other particles, such as saliva, suspended matter, dust, pollen, etc., and form clusters, commonly called germs. As a rule, these are 0.4 µm to 0.5 µm in size. The most reliable separation of germs (clusters) is achieved by using an H14 filter.
